Sleazy Peek: Loz Goddard - Murmur (Outplay)

Our good friends over at Outplay HQ have been properly slow-roasting and curating their fine imprint chock full of chunky belters over the past couple years, ever since dropping their insanely good First Things First EP back in 2014 (have a wee scroll on these pages, we gave it the glowing review it deserved) that flew off the shelves. Five ep's later they've enlisted the talents of our favourite Mancunian Loz Goddard once again to take the reins of their latest voyage. The boys sent over the belter of a release a month or so ago and we loved it to bits - with one track, 'Murmur' sticking out for us in particular. Click away and read on, dear reader.

The cut in question is the B2, the deepest on the EP, kicking off with warm overlapping keys followed by a laid-back breezy beat. At this stage the track could well be mistaken for a proper deep houser with a shift of only a few gears. Effortlessly building though - with various percussion and synthlines, the track ramps …

Cosmic Groove EP (Groovence Records)

If you've been keeping up with our recent ramblings you may be starting to think that we have a bit of a love affair with new French labels over here at Sleazy Beats (and you would be damn right!). A lot has been said of the emerging scene in France and I won't bore you with (much) more of it, but the fact is that there's been some smoking hot fuego spewing from L'Hexagone for a good year or so now.
Next to join the house and disco Renaissance is Groovence Records, a label that've been creating quite the buzz around their inaugural V.A release 'Cosmic Groove' for some time. It's almost 6 months since the introduction of their 'Invites...' mix series which, to my mind, is one of the finest collections of long plays you'll find on Soundcloud at the moment and little did we know that Toulouse-based label bosses Thibaut and François were using this as a little teaser of what was to come....
When you pick up this record you'd be forgiven for…

Sleazy Peek: Marcel Lune - Freedom [Pusic Records]

Austrian noise-makers, Pusic Records, tap Marcel Lune for his second artist EP on the imprint and it does not disappoint. Fans of the label will instantly recognize the signature, hazy disco vibes the camp has become known for and delight in the treats to be found. Here, we get deep into the offerings on deck with a sleazy lil peek at the A2 cut, "Freedom."

There's something classic and unmistakable about D.C. LaRue's anthemic "Cathedrals," which is leveraged heavily here to wondrous affect. Where as the original tune finds despair and redemption in the love and lust of hedonistic night-life, Marcel ditches all but the bass groove for his flip. Peppering the aural landscape with analogue arpeggios, layers of percussions and African vocal chants.. we're greeted with an entirely different vibe that is uplifting and care-free.

Peep the full release below and get your pre-order game locked HERE. Dropping in early June.

Soul Reductions - Got 2 Be Loved [Take Away]

When I sat down to consider Soul Reductions, the virtually unheard of production outfit based in North London, and their blinding debut for the equally mysterious Take Away label, it's probably ideal to refer to the classic adage: "less is more." Such is the case here. Despite the infinite wisdom accessible a mere finger-stroke away, my diligence at (lightly) scouring the inter webs have left little in the ways of illuminating information on either camp. It might be equally ideal here to implore a second cliche: "let the music speak for itself," which it certainly does...loudly so.
Title track, "Got 2 Be Loved" covers the span of the A-side at 7 minutes plus and anchors it's feet firmly on the floor while thick, sampled grooves encourage multiple hands-to-the-sky moments. Relying on a hypnotic disco loop that whips and teases the listener, one can only recall the halcyon days of the French Touch movement and their deft utilization of the "le…

Sleazy Peek: pothOles - Warthog * Saine remix (Common Labour)

We were first introduced to Finland's Common Labour when label owner pothOles - or Tuomo to the postman - sent a few records over last year. It's always a pleasant surprise to find fresh and unexpected wax on your doorstep, especially when something truly amazing comes along that makes you fall in love with house music all over again, as was the case here. We've been watching boutique label Common Labour ever since, so you can imagine our delight when a friendly inquiry hit our inbox a few weeks ago to see if we were up for premiering a cut of their latest missive: pothOles' Warthog.
Warthog actually did the rounds on a run of dubplates back in 2013 that was so limited even the Discogs geek massive seems to have failed to catch on and list it. It's a good thing pothOles decided to give the track the proper release it deserves as it's a timeless piece of mesmerizing, Adriatic deepness that begs to be replayed over and over. I expect to hear this all over the s…

Sleazy Peek: Ziggy Phunk - Jazzy Feelings (wewillalwaysbealovesong)

wewillalwaysbealovesong is a french house music label based in Marseille. For its ninth release the label is happy and proud to welcome Ziggy Phunk, copenhagen based disco & house producer. Here is the first track of the 'Cool Fellas' EP called "Jazzy Feelings"

The groove doesn't stop until about the three min mark or so where the tune breaks into piano mode and carries us through with some sweet ivory tickling and more stratocaster-induced mayhem. If you like your stuff in the sub-zero range and dripping wet to the tits with funk and soul, then look no further than this gem. Keep an eye out for this lovely release, the 'Cool Fellas Ep', and big congrats to Romain and Ziggy for nailing this one perfectly, will be on heavy rotation all summer we reckon. More killer wewillalwaysbealovesong cuts en route, don't sleep etc...

Tale of Tales: Chapter 02 [Lagaffe Tales]

Welp. Pour a cold one and fire up the charcoal 'cause the spring releases just keep on rollin'. As if our online carts didn't feel packed enough, another set of good times vibes is dropping for sale. Next up is a top selection of premium grade, grass-fed cuts from Lagaffe Tales. Don't worry either. These babies come pre-marinated with groove! Tale of Tales: Chapter 2is the third vinyl installment by the lads from Reykjavík and we can't wait to slap one on the platter.

For the appetizer, Jónbjörn and Viktor keep it fresh and local with a track from Felix Leifur. 'Eitt' delivers a dose of warm, jazz-infused samples sure to excite your rhythmic taste buds. Reminds me of a similar chunky jam 'Eyelids' he put out on Dirt Crew recently. Both awesome starters for the menu. Be careful though. You don't want to spoil your meal.

Like a rare fine wine, the bookend of the A-side hosts two producers who need no introduction. They've had a string of cha…
